About Me...

I would like to introduce myself. My name is Pilar Castaño and I teach Bilingual Kindergarten at Ed White Elementary School in Houston, Texas. I graduated from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana with a bachelor of science degree in Industrial Engineer in Colombia. At Houston Independent School District I participated in the Alternative Certification Program, where after an intensive training I received my certification as Kindergarten Teacher in August 1994.I also have a certification as a Gifted and Talented teacher. I have been teaching for almost ten years and I am honored to be in the teaching profession.

I love teaching Kindergarten, and I always look for new ideas to incorporate into my lessons plans to make my student's learning process more fun and enjoyable. I have high expectations for my students and I work hard to fullfill every child needs. I believe teachers make a different on a child if we as an educators teach with our heart and make our career with passion and love.

Every year I work hard to establish a strong relationship with parents by involving them in especial programs such as " Special Family Week" and " The Little Travel Lion" Home program, to assist the parents in their child's learning, growth, and development.

I decided to build this website to share ideas with all others kindergarten teachers around the world. I hope you enjoy it!!!
