Welcome letter to parents:
|
Dear Parents: Welcome to our 2003-2004 school year at Ed White Elementary School. It's school time again and I am very happy to have your child in my classroom this year. My name is Pilar Castano and I will be your child Kindergarten teacher. Your child is about to start a new adventure. I am looking forward to my part in that adventure, and I'll work hard to make it exciting and satisfying. I strongly believe that communication between home and school is extremely important and I also believe that working together we can make this a very successful year. You are invited to visit the school any time you may have a question concerning your child's progress, and I hope you will get involved in school activities. If your child develops any difficulty conforming to the rules, I will notify you. Working together, we can help your child grow and thrive. You can also visit and write me through our class website: I have created this website to keep parents informed of what to expect throughout the school year. The website has lots of information about our classroom as well as links for you and your family can visit to work and play. There is so much to tell you about kindergarten. I hope you and your family will be able to meet with me in our classroom for the "Open House". I can't wait to meet you and start our year together!

Kindergarten is...
|
Kindergarten is a place where your child can continue to
grow and learn in a safe and happy
environment. It is a place where your child will learn through play and planned activities. It is a place where self-esteem and confidence are built on each child's strengths and interests. It is also a place where your child will be accepted as a unique person. It is a place where children are at many different stages of development, and where there is a program appropiate to each child.
GOALS FOR KINDERGARTEN: 1. Developing self-esteem by being respected and valued; by making and keeping friends; by experiencing success, and by expressing feelings appropriately. 2. Learn how to learn by exploring and making choices; by working and playing in groups; by expressing opinions, and by solving problems 3. Increase knowledge and skills through tasting, touching, seeing, smelling, listening, thinking, speaking, collecting, observing, naming, and categorizing; hearing and telling stories from books and experiences.
